Prescreen Requirements
Songs
•One musical theatre song from any time period
•One song of your choice from any time period and in any style (musical theatre, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, rap, soul, country, punk, etc.)
•Songs should contrast in style
•Each song 60-90 seconds
•Musical accompaniment required (live or pre-recorded) - no a cappella
•Examples of contrasting styles: fast vs. slow tempo, sustained melodic vs. speech-like singing, dramatic vs. comedic, belt vs. head/falsetto mix
Monologues
•Two contrasting monologues, each 60-90 seconds
•One contemporary monologue (typically written after 1950) from a published play or written by a professional writer
•One classical monologue (typically written before 1950) from a published play or written by a professional writer with heightened language
•Monologues must be memorized
•Age-appropriate (generally within 5-10 years of your actual age)
•Should feel authentic to your culture, background, and lived experience
•Active monologues recommended (real time, direct communication with imaginary scene partner)
Dance
•One dance submission, 60-90 seconds
•Show your best version of dancing or moving
•Must include at least one turn, one jump, and one kick (or other suitable rotation, elevation, and extension that works for your body)
•No dance call at live auditions
Wildcard / Special Skill
Optional wildcard (60-90 seconds): Show your personality! Can be ANYTHING—special skill, passion speech, instrument, original composition, comedy skit, hobby demo, non-English performance, or additional dance style. "What do you want us to know about you?"
Additional Materials
•Resume including recent experiences, productions, roles, honors and awards
•Current headshot or recent photo (does not need to be professional)
•Wildcard submission optional - 60-90 seconds to show personality or share something about you
Video Specifications
•One slate video stating your name and pronouns if you would like to share
•Each piece 60-90 seconds
•Review filming guidelines prior to filming and uploading
•Guidelines include information on slating, video labeling, and framing
•All guidelines must be followed to avoid application review delays
What Happens After Prescreen (If Invited)
•Applicants can choose to do the same material from prescreen or choose new material for live audition
•Live audition follows same requirements as prescreen
•No dance call at live auditions
