Prescreen Requirements
Songs
PRESCREEN (MTCP Guidelines):
-Two contrasting songs, 60-90 seconds each
-One song written BEFORE 1970 (any style: MT, Golden Age, pop, hip-hop, folk, rock, rap, soul, country, punk)
-One song written AFTER 1970 (contrasting style)
-Accompaniment required (live or recorded)—no a cappella
LIVE AUDITION:
-Same two songs as prescreen
-Accompanist provided—bring clearly marked sheet music in your key
Monologues
PRESCREEN (MTCP Guidelines):
-Two contrasting monologues, 60-90 seconds each
-One CONTEMPORARY (post-1950) from published play or professional writer
-One CLASSICAL (pre-1950) with heightened language (Shakespeare, Molière, Marlowe, Middleton, Kyd, Aristophanes, August Wilson, Tony Kushner, Suzan-Lori Parks, Mike Bartlett, Andrea Gibson, or non-Western traditions translated to English)
LIVE AUDITION:
-Same two monologues as prescreen
-Read the full play, not just the excerpt
-Choose age-appropriate characters
Dance
Dance call is NOT a required component of the musical theatre audition.
Wildcard / Special Skill
OPTIONAL slate video (10 seconds max): State your name and pronouns.

What Happens After Prescreen (If Invited)
•Academic application required BEFORE scheduling audition (Common App, Coalition, or Point Park direct)
-Prescreen opens September 1—submit early as audition slots fill quickly
-Live audition slots are first-come, first-served after passing prescreen
-Must be both academically AND artistically admitted
-Students may audition once per year, maximum two auditions total
-Transfer students admitted as freshmen (receive elective credit for previous training)
-Must begin in fall semester
-No feedback provided on individual auditions
